About us

After retiring from the pest control industry, I decided not to become bored with my life, but to have a hobby, the most obvious direction was to use my knowledge in order to design and make various traps etc. for the purpose of catching pests of all types. I can honestly say each item built will be and individually made bespoke traps, without a doubt different to any others on the market.

However as time progressed and wanting to make my life simpler, I decided to restrict this new venture into just one type of squirrel trap box, which can be used in the vertical or horizontal position to catch both squirrels and rats.

The final design I have is based upon my knowledge, observations, findings, trial and error, all of which are combined with a lot of hours of use catching my target prey over the many years of designing traps that are now simple to use. I also had to take into account that some of my customers have not used traps previously, and as such I needed a design that works, and can be used simply for both fixing and the setting of the trap, and after the catch the next important stage is the removal of the catch. This caused a few problems that I had to sort out due to my traps being sold to the trade and the amateur user, this is only possible due to no poisons being involved.

I have designed a trap where there are no restrictions internally making the whole procedure simple when removing the caught prey.

The methods of pest control we sell here is an ECO friendly and most importantly non toxic.

Due to all of my pest control training etc. I understand the humane method of catching animals and insects and either saving or dispatching of the catch, as well as keeping the catch out of sight to any innocent onlookers that may pass by what looks like a bird box. A lot of people do not wish to see evidence of dead animals hanging out of a trap box whilst still attached to a trap, our method does not allow for this to happen, or for a trap to be viewed sticking outside of the box. Which in public areas is a non starter as far as I am concerned, because some people that do not agree with killing squirrels will know there is a trap in the box and either set it off by banging the box, or worse still break the box and remove the trap.

The basic external measurements of the heavy duty version which is the only type I make is 15-16 inches at the tallest part and approx 8½ - 9 inches deep x 8 - 8½ inches external width, the material is we use is 18mm thick hardwood builders ply, and the roof is made from 9mm hardwood builders ply. The front door will be screwed to a front cross bar, which will be hidden from view, this will help prevent the fixing screw separating the layers of ply. I am constantly looking at different designs and ideas and as such I try them out on the next item I make, this is the fun in making items that are handmade and not mass produced.

I can make these boxes in marine ply if required but the cost will be higher to that shown of the basic box, this is due to the high cost of marine ply. There will be a minimum order of 3 boxes.

Also please note these boxes are not the same sizes or materials as those I have made in the past. The new designs are heavier duty hardwood builders ply and more secure.

The grey squirrel is regarded as an invasive non-native species following its inclusion under Schedule 9 of the WCA. Grey squirrels are also listed in the IUCN international list of 100 worst invasive non-native species. This highlights the damage that grey squirrels cause to our native flora and fauna; a problem severe enough to be recognised at a level of global significance. As such, the grey squirrel is regarded as a pest species and is afforded no protection under the WCA. Under Schedule 9 of the WCA, it is illegal to release a grey squirrel into the wild, or allow one to escape.

This means if you trap one, you are obliged to humanely dispatch it. You must not let it go as this act would be illegal.

Anyone who carries out, or knowingly causes or permits any of the above acts to occur could be committing an offence.
